The Legacy

History

In the year 1969,our founder member, Dr. Phani Sharma had an idea of providing the best cine-theater in the city of Guwahati. Almost everyone from family members & relative rejected the idea of starting a cinema hall and criticized him of planning a business in a place that has scanty population, inaccessible roads and very few mode of transportation. The main road coming from Panbazar met a dead end in Chandmari, where the proposed Cinema Hall was to be built. However, been well determined and confident with his plan, Dr. Sharma started working on his dream project and within 31st December 1970, he completed the project. On 1st of January 1971, Anuradha cine-auditorium was inaugurated by then Chief Minister of Assam, Shri Mahendra Mohan Chowdhury and finally opened for public with Dharmendra & Hema Malini starrer, Bhappi Sonie directed film "Tum Haseen Main Jawaan". To overcome the obstacle of communication & transportation, he himself arranged Rickshaws & Buses to carry people from Chandmari to Anuradha Cinema Hall. Since then it has been the sincere endeavor of Anuradha Cineplex to continuously provide the best & ultimate in Cine-Entertainment sector. From 1984-1990, we fought back hard for our survival like many others in a period where the business of cinema halls were closing down, we moved ahead with the demands of the time by introducing all the facilities that of a Multiplex at an affordable rate. From Cine-Auditorium to present day, Air conditioned Cineplex, we have indeed come to a long way to become the No.1 chosen Single screen Theatre in the entire North East.
